Guarding Secrets
Isn’t it annoying when you tell a friend a secret but that friend tells another friend and that friend tells another friend eventually your secret is now known by everyone but you still think everyone doesn’t know about it. When you tell someone a secret it’s supposed to be because you trust that person to keep it to oneself and not make it public. What if it was really a very important secret and that person gives it out. You kind of lose trust with that friend and you want to guard your secrets closer.
I also find the concept of secrets ironic. If it was a real secret say you murdered someone, you wouldn’t and shouldn’t be telling anyone that you did that unless you actually want to get caught. Once a secret is told it no longer becomes a secret but a discreet agreement to keep a certain piece of information to oneself. The trick in giving secrets is to give only as much as you want others to know.
I also don’t like it when people give me secrets. I certainly will keep the secret to myself unless of course I get tortured or bribed with so much money I don’t really care about that secret anymore. I’d really rather not know the secret or would rather learn the secret through my own “investigations”.
Why do people keep secrets? Is it because we know something shameful or we are just too scared to admit something? If I liked someone, well it isn’t really a secret since I subtly move toward that person. Though I certainly won’t tell that person outright. I feel I keep secrets because of trust issues with people.
If information is power then the one who holds the most information is god. No wonder why there are so many sites data mining your information like mine is now! You have clicked on this blog and now it is sucking all your information and your secrets. Information vampire! Mwahahhaha.
Oh information vampire – since I think it’s national secret day (well I’m declaring it as such) I’ll put something over my other blog – Planeswalking.
